I. Job Summary

The SBS Portfolio Manager role is the senior leader within the enterprise analytics and data management (EADM) strategy and portfolio team who will lead the SBS portfolio team in developing the strategic roadmap and overseeing execution for data, business intelligence and analytics solutions for the national accounts sales organization/business unit (SBS) at WM. The SBS business unit handles all WM national account clients.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential duties satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned and may vary by department.

Strategy, thought Leadership and relationship management

  • Collaborate with the Head of Strategy and Portfolio of EADM, the SBS business unit stakeholders, the SBS Portfolio team, and EADM Capability teams (data management, BI and Advanced Analytics) to deliver the strategic roadmap for business intelligence and analytics for SBS business unit at WM
  • Act as the primary business relationship manager and develop strong relationships with business stakeholders representing HQ and the account teams within SBS to manage planning and strategy input from the various stakeholders
  • Assist and advise the business by contributing (data and analytics technology aspects) to the business strategy development, with the goal of addressing business opportunities through data and analytics technologies
  • Work with the all business stakeholders to develop, communicate and execute on an aligned IT/business strategy for SBS analytics
  • Provide business consulting to the SBS business unit on analytics-related subjects
  • Contribute to the branding and marketing strategy for the EADM organization
  • Maintain subject matter knowledge through research, monitoring market trends, external events, and networking on topics like sales and marketing analytics, and national account management, etc.
  • Align with the EADM capability teams to ensure the data and analytics solutions for SBS align with the technology and architecture roadmaps
  • Responsible for bringing the technical/functional subject matter expertise on the subjects of data management, data integration and data quality, business intelligence and analytics, self-serve analytics, mobile analytics, web-based reporting and dashboards, cloud BI technologies and platforms, and advanced analytics to support the business as part of matching demand with new or existing solution options as well as solution development

Product Management

  • Act as the EADM product leader for the SBS business unit
  • Set the vision, strategy and roadmap for creating and evolving the data, BI and analytics solutions and services for the SBS business unit within EADM
  • Develop and maintain a multi-generational product progression (MGPP) roadmap for the SBS business unit
  • Facilitate the desirability, feasibility and viability assessment around analytics solutions for the SBS business unit
  • Working with all relevant stakeholders, lead/assist with the creation of business cases, business benefit and NPV statements, project proposals, project charters, estimates, etc.
  • Working with all relevant stakeholders, develop a long-range (3-5 years) cost plan for products, solutions, and services in their respective area. Also provide inputs to the annual planning and budgeting processes of the EADM organization
  • Liaise with the appropriate process owners throughout the solution/service lifecycle to ensure products/solutions deliver the expected benefit and value
  • Together with the EADM capability teams identify enhancement opportunities for continued improvement opportunities and service efficiencies
  • Provide input in defining non-functional solution/service attributes such as performance, adoption measurement and availability
  • Responsible for ensuring proper requirements gathering and analysis are performed, approved, and communicated
  • Responsible for ensuring attainment of desired business outcomes and ROI through solutions
  • Responsible for working with other portfolio managers on the team and the capability teams to ensure proper harmonization and alignment of design across solutions
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization to facilitate technical solutions to complex business problems

General management

  • Manages and leads the SBS Portfolio team and is responsible for developing, coaching, mentoring team members
  • Coordinates and oversees career development, performance management, pay determination and team communication.
  • Financial responsibility - Indirect; Oversees a product/solution portfolio of the EADM organization ranging between $3M to $5M
  • Headcount - Direct line management responsibility direct for up 5 associates in up to 2 countries (USA, India) and further indirect associates up to 10 as appropriate, and direct/indirect externals up to 10 associates
  • Complexity - Supporting business stakeholders and interaction with senior business stakeholders in a consultative environment; Ensure to maintain technology knowledge in line with market developments and innovations. Understand local/regional market and key account specifics and define common denominators to deliver re-useable assets. Develop and support the EADM solution architecture, understand the intersection between business, technology, and user experience.
  • Business Impact - Direct contact with the business leaders advising on solution strategy, roadmap, and vision.

III. Supervisory Responsibilities

The highest level of supervisory skills required in this job is management through one or more managerial levels. This includes:

  • Direct supervision of full-time employees including management, team leads and individual contributor positions;
  • May have indirect supervision of other full-time management and/or individual contributor positions.

IV. Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.

A. Education and Experience

Education: Bachelor's Degree (accredited) in Computer Science, MIS, Business Administration or similar area of study, or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and 4 years of relevant experience.

Experience: Eight or more years previous experience (in addition to education requirement)

B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements

Preferred: Project Management Certification, ITIL, Certified Software Test Engineer, or equivalent.

C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required

May require in depth skills in one or more of the following: PeopleSoft HRMS, ERP development, implementation and support, QA management experience and training experience, managing large-scale data centers, ISeries, software analysis design and development, application development projects, programming/relational database, data warehousing, application testing, project lifecycle methodology, analytical skills, general IT knowledge, budgeting, accounting and finance, communication skills, executive leadership, strategic planning and simultaneous project management of multiple projects.
